New Marina in Quepos
The South Pacific continues to experience tremendous growth. The latest large investment in the region is the newly announced marina in Quepos. Quepos, on the Costa Rican Central Pacific, will be home to Marina Pez Vela (Sailfish Marina), designed to berth 300 boats of up to 180 feet.
It is expected to provide 3,000 new jobs and to promote technical training and the protection of the environment. With a starting us$16.6 million investment, the project is expected to start operating in August 2008.
According to the development’s chairman, Harold Lovelady, the project also includes a 100-room hotel, 60 condominiums, and a shopping center, among other facilities.
A dry dock will start operating in 2010, Lovelady pointed out.
This project joins the infrastructural investments of the new highway connecting Quepos to Dominical, the new hospital in Cortes and the newly announced international airport in the region.
